Diamond workers don’t want annoyed with Navratri vacation in schools

Every year, diamond workers visit their hometown with their families during Diwali vacation, and Navratri vacation means shortened Diwali holidays.SDA president Babu Gujarati said, “Nearly three lakh diamond workers and their family members visit their hometown in Saurashtra during Diwali vacation. The GSRTC buses will be run on regular basis to ferry diamond workers to various towns and cities in Saurashtra. Many diamond workers will be attending marriage functions of their friends and families. SURAT: When most of the private schools in Diamond City have opposed the state government’s decision to give vacation for 10-days in schools, diamond workers too look annoyed.Surat Diamond Association (SDA) office-bearers have decided to meet chief minister Vijay Rupani and education minister in Gandhinagar on Monday with an appeal to revoke the decision.SDA office-bearers stated that diamond workers in the industry are unhappy over the government’s announcement on Navratri vacation. Now with Navratri vacation in schools, Diwali holidays in the schools will be reduced to just 15 days, which is not enough for workers visiting their hometown once in a year.”Gujarati added, “The marriage season will also start with the festive season in November.

Every year, diamond workers visit their hometown with their families during Diwali vacation, and Navratri vacation means shortened Diwali holidays.SDA president Babu Gujarati said, “Nearly three lakh diamond workers and their family members visit their hometown in Saurashtra during Diwali vacation. It is that time of the year when the industry shuts for almost 25 days. Now with Navratri vacation in schools, Diwali holidays in the schools will be reduced to just 15 days, which is not enough for workers visiting their hometown once in a year.”Gujarati added, “The marriage season will also start with the festive season in November. Many diamond workers will be attending marriage functions of their friends and families. We will represent the issue to the state government on Monday and request it to revoke the decision on Navratri vacation in schools.”He said Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has agreed to run over 500 buses between Surat and Saurashtra from November 3. The GSRTC buses will be run on regular basis to ferry diamond workers to various towns and cities in Saurashtra.
