SURAT: A man working in a paan shop was stabbed allegedly for not giving water bottle and cigarettes to a customer after midnight on Thursday in Rander area of the city.The accused was part of a group of seven men who fled after attacking the victim, who is receiving treatment in a private hospital.According Rander police, Har Har Mahadev pan shop located at Khodiyar Complex near Rander Mashal circle was open after midnight on Thursday.The accused aged 25-30 years came on a motorcycle and demanded a water bottle and cigarette from the man on the counter. Since the man was attending to other customer, he told the accused to wait.Angered by the response, the accused started abusing the man on the counter, who in turn slapped the accused.The accused left the place and returned with seven men in an autorickshaw. The accused and his aides thrashed the paan shop worker identified as Vikas with sticks. They also allegedly stabbed him in stomach and fled from the spot.Vikas is under treatment in a private hospital, police said.Police said that they have recorded statements of witnesses and also checked the CCTV footages of nearby places to identify the accused and his aides.
