Bharuch/Surat: Considering the increasing influx of tourists to the Statue of Unity (SoU) at Kevadia Colony, the Narmada district administration has decided to issue color-coded passes with time slots to the visitors coming to view the statue, Sardar Sarovar Dam and Valley of Flowers. At present, tourists have to stand in long queues to go up to the viewing gallery at 153 metres. Now, they will get passes marked with a specific time slot so that the wait can be reduced. Two hours will be allotted to 1,200 tourists the viewing gallery. This will help visitors plan their trip properly, said R S Ninama, collector, Narmada.The preparations of other pending activities at the Statue of Unity has also been fast-tracked as President of India Ramnath Kovind is scheduled to visit on December 15. Also, the national conference of Director General of Police (DGPs) is planned at Kevadia Colony on December 19 and 20 which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair through video conferencing.On Saturday and Sunday, at least 30,000 people visited Kevadia and tourists were stuck in traffic jam for hours at various places on roads connecting Vadodara and The impact of traffic snarl was also visible at Karjan toll plaza on NH-48 and on the Ahmedabad - Vadodara Expressway too.
