SURAT: A fresh cryptocurrency case was registered on Friday by CID crime against bitcoin accused Divyesh Darji and his partner Ranjit Saxena for their involvement in a scam suspected to be worth Rs1,000 crore.
An FIR has been registered against Darji in Bengalaru too for cryptocurrency fraud,” a police officer said.Police have started recording statements of people in the fresh case.
Darji, a resident of Surat, and Saxena, a resident of Mumbai, registered Dekado abroad and set up its Gujarat office at Piplod in the city.
Darji is in judicial custody in a bitcoin case in another city while Saxena is on the run.
The complaint was filed by Girish Sheladiya, who lost Rs48 lakh after he invested in cryptocoins issued by the duo’s company Dekado.
