Bharuch/Surat: A 41-year-old photography studio owner was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on Wednesday for raping a 14-year girl several times in June 2016 that resulted in a pregnancy, which her parents got terminated on medical grounds after two months.Bharuch additional session judge S V Vyas found Prakash Chandra Sekhar Baral of Ankleshwar guilty for the raping the minor who was her neighbour. The court while sentencing Baral to 10 years in jail, also imposed a fine of Rs 3lakh on him which will be given to the survivor as compensation.According to case details, Baral owns a photography studio in Ankleshwar. He had developed a close relationship with the survivor’s parents, who are doctors. Police said that Baral took advantage of the the trust of the girl’s parents put in him and allegedly raped their 14-year-old daughter several times in June 2016, when she was alone at home.The parents came to know about the incident after the girl got pregnant. After the girl told her parents about what Baral had done, they did not lodge FIR immediately over fear of social implications. They however threatened Baral to stay away from their daughter.But Baral again targeted the teenage girl and raped her again. He further threatened the minor that he would kill her if she told about him to anybody.However, the girl informed her parents who lodged FIR at Ankleshwar GIDC police station under POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act), IPC 376 (2) (i) (n), 452, 506 (2).Baral was soon arrested after after trial he was convicted by the additional district session judge Bharuch on Wednesday.
