Surat: SRP jawan loses SLR magazine with 20 live cartridges

Surat: A police constable registered a complaint of loss of a magazine containing 20 live cartridges of his self-loading rifle (SLR) at Umra police station a few days ago. Jitendra Namdas, a police constable of State Reserve Police Group II , Ahmedabad, lodged the complaint on January 12 about the magazine. He had arrived on duty with the SLR and the magazine. He told the police that he did not immediately realize that he has lost the magazine. Our investigation is on,” said a police officer of Umra police station.

Jitendra Namdas, a police constable of State Reserve Police Group II , Ahmedabad, lodged the complaint on January 12 about the magazine. It was not found despite a search by the SRP jawan and also city police.Police investigation revealed that the armed constable is a member of quick response team posted at city police commissionerate. He had arrived on duty with the SLR and the magazine. He went to change clothes at MT section after duty hours. He told the police that he did not immediately realize that he has lost the magazine. When he reached Mahidharpura, he came to realize that the magazine was missing.Police recovered CCTV footages of the area around police commissionerate and found Jitendra carrying the magazine along with the SLR while coming to duty. When he returns from the MT section, the magazine is not visible in the footages, police said.“Police carried out detailed checking of the area and conducted punchnama of the entire route where the complainant had gone, but failed to recover the lost magazine. It seems that someone had found it and took it along. Our investigation is on,” said a police officer of Umra police station.
