Surat: Police arrested a man who along with two others had kidnapped a diamond trader to recover Rs26 lakh from him here on Monday. The trio also beat up the victim who became insolvent a year ago after buying goods worth Rs10 crore from several people, including them. Chintan Vinu Waghani, a resident of Kaapodra, registered a complaint at Kapodra police station against them. He was kidnapped by Jignesh and Hasmukh Waghasiya along with another man to recover their Rs26 lakh from him. They took Waghani in a car at a desolate place and beat him up. The trio allegedly asked him to return their money at the earliest or else they will kill him.A police officer said, “The victim says the trio was trying to extort Rs26 lakh from him. However, he owes Rs10 crore to several people, including the trio. We have registered his complaint and arrested the main accused Jignesh. Investigation in the case has begun. The other two accused will be soon caught.”
