Surat: A 23-year-old woman has accused her live-in partner and his family, comprising his mother and two brothers , of feeding her ‘poison-laced milk’ to induce abortion of her two-month-old foetus. She has also accused them of physical torture.In her complaint to the Pandesera police, the woman alleged that she was given milk mixed with some toxic substance, resulting in ending her two-month-old pregnancy with an induced abortion. She also claims that she questioned his kin about their intention to force her into abortion on January 23, but they got very angry at this and even started abusing her verbally as well as physically. They even beat up the woman’s mother when she tried to rescue her. Thereafter, mother-daughter duo approached the police the same night to register a complaint. However, the Pandesara police registered her complaint only on February 12 after she was made to narrate her ordeal again.The complainant told police that she had separated from her first husband around two-and-half years ago. After separation, she entered into a live-in relationship with Kamal Prajapati of Vadod village. While the woman works in the packaging department of a textile industry, Prajapati works as a labourer in textile market.Police told TOI that the victim doubts she was fed ‘something’ mixed with milk that led to an abortion. “We will get her medical tests done so that the truth behind the abortion, which happened a month ago, is established. Our investigation is on,” cops added.
