GJEPC targets 6k new jobs in diamond, jewellery sectors

They believe that it is all about cutting and polishing diamonds and setting jewellery in gold.

Surat: The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) will be launching a pan-Gujarat campaign starting from February 15 to attract young talent from various educational institutions to create more than 6,000 jobs in Gujarat’s diamond and jewellery sector.The campaign ‘Pratibha—bridging the gap’ will be launched from the Diamond City in association with the Sarvajanik Education Society (SES) where more than 1,000 students from various educational field including arts, science, engineering, commerce will be provided an opportunity to develop their career in the diamond and jewellery sector such as diamond technology, e-commerce, software and solutions, laboratory and testing, marketing, back office and human resources.Talking with TOI, regional chairman of GJEPC, Dinesh Navadia said, “Youngsters have a misconception about the diamond and jewellery sector. They believe that it is all about cutting and polishing diamonds and setting jewellery in gold. But, we want to change the misconception by introducing the young blood with the vast career opportunities available in this sector.”According to Navadia, the diamond and jewellery industry’s skilled manpower requirement is huge.
