Surat: Three persons were arrested for raping a 35-year-old married woman from Navapur, Maharashtra in a moving car here on Friday. Rahul alias Wasim Karim Shaikh, Babu alias Aftab Shaikh and Naushad Saiyed had assumed Hindu identities to befriend the woman, a mother of a 14-year-old girl Mahidharpura police said the accused ran a parking contract near Limbayat in the city. The woman in her complaint registered on Wednesday stated that she had met Wasim in a marriage in May 2018 and that he had introduced himself as Rahul then. She has alleged in her police complaint that Babu alias Aftab and Wasim had earlier raped her in a hostel and she was threatened of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident. Naushad too had raped her before, she said.A police officer said, “The woman and the accused have been subjected to medical examination. The accused would be produced in a court on Saturday. We will request the court to remand the three accused in police custody.”
