Five more entries from NH into city by Dec

The project will also turn the city’s desired development into reality.”

Surat: To make it easier for commuters to and from Surat , five new ancillary entries towards Vadodara and Ahmedabad will be opened on the Sayan-Kadodara 18km-long stretch at the cost of Rs 307 crore, which has already been approved by Urban Ring Development Corporation Limited (URDCL). With the construction of the outer ring road project gaining momentum, traffic congestion at Kadodara junction will be reduced considerably and also facilitate development of residential zone and other facilities in the area.Jatin Shah, general manager of URDCL, told TOI that these enties will form the radial roads of the city. “It will connect Kamrej, Kadodara, Sayan and Abrama. Once construction work on these roads is completed, it will save time and fuel for people coming in and going out of Surat from the reduced traffic,” he said.Sample this: Person travelling to Surat from Vadodara on NH 8, will be able to enter the city via this portion of outer ring road at Abrama and will directly reach Saroli near Kadodara. It will not only save him time, but also fuel as the distance will be shortened by 6to 8 km .Under the project, URDCL will construct 27.74 km roads altogether. Once this 18km-stretch is ready within 18 months, the remaining 7.75 km portion will be taken up to complete the ring road.URDCL has set up a developmental model for the all-round development of this 200feet outer ring road project and make it self sufficient. Under this model, 11 town planning schemes, eight by Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) and three by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) are being developed, which are on draft stage. On these TP schemes, residential development will be done with maximum FSI grant of 4, on 500 metres on both sides of the ring road. This will enable developers to build 23-25 feet high sky scrappers here.The managing director of URDCL, M Thennarasan said, “ These roads will propel city’s growth to the next level and also reduce traffic congestion to a great extent. The project will also turn the city’s desired development into reality.”
