SURAT: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) once again had images in its question paper of class X examination without bothering to give any option to blind students on Thursday. Its science and technology subject paper of last Saturday had four multiple choice questions (MCQ) with images and this had reportedly created lots of problems for the blind examinees. The social science paper had three questions with images. Students were supposed to choose one answer from four options. The toughest was black and white image of Padmapani painting from Ajanta. The students were asked whose image it was and from where?“The images asked in the science and technology paper were comparatively simpler. An examinee was explained about the images by his writer who drew them on his palm. But these images cannot be explained,” a teacher said.Apart from the famous painting in one question, examinees were asked about Woolmark logo. They were asked to choose from options and tell it represents which type of products. The students were also asked about an image that represented unity in diversity.“How can a blind student see these images? It is difficult to explain them about the images as well. The GSHSEB should have given some options to them against these questions. We will request that the blind students be given marks for these questions,” said another teacher.Earlier, four MCQs of one mark each were asked in science and technology paper. Normally, the GSHSEB gives optional questions for the blind students.
