Surat: Police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl here on Friday. Cops from Surat railway police station nabbed Buddhivilas alias Batki Rajaram Vishwakarma, a resident of Chhapra Bhatha Road , on specific information from his brother-in-law’s house in Umargam in Valsad. He had escaped to Umargam after raping the minor girl at knifepoint.He abducted the minor girl when she was sleeping outside her hut near Utran railway station under the limits of Amroli police station and raped her at an isolated place. The minor girl suffered serious injuries in her private parts and is receiving treatment at a hospital.It was third such case in the city since Monday in which girls below 10 years of age had been sexually assaulted by men.In another complaint registered at Pandesara police station, a 13-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old youth and molested by his 38-year-old uncle. Police arrested Bansilal alias Bauva Pal, a resident of Bhestan locality, but his nephew Satyam Pal had fled to Uttar Pradesh. The minor girl lived with her mother in the house of the accused on rent. The girl’s mother lodged police complaint against the accused.The woman alleged in her complaint that the accused had sexually assaulted her daughter on January 12. They had approached police in January but for some inexplicable reasons, withdrew their application later, police said. The girl’s mother came again to the police station to lodge the complaint and it was registered by the police.“The accused will be arrested soon. We will register statements of neighbours to ascertain the facts. The accused and the complainants are relatives,” said a police officer at Pandesara police station.
