SVNIT clerk attacks cops on campus, held

Surat: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) witnessed some anxious moments on Wednesday when a woman employee tried to attack cops on the campus. SVNIT officials said that the woman behaved aggressively with senior officers and also took video of her argument with cops. But she continued her behaviour here as well,” said a senior professor. Her complaint was sent for inquiry to the internal complaint committee of SVNIT.“The committee submitted its report on Tuesday saying that the allegations were baseless,” an official said.Meanwhile, SVNIT officials came across another issue with the staffer. Officials then sought police help to maintain law and order when she came to office.After heated arguments, the cops booked her for obstructing police from performing their duty.

She was arrested and taken to Umra police station.The woman, who is a clerk in the RTI Cell, had complained last month about mental harassment by a senior professor after the agaency which appointed her had cut her salary for January. Her complaint was sent for inquiry to the internal complaint committee of SVNIT.“The committee submitted its report on Tuesday saying that the allegations were baseless,” an official said.Meanwhile, SVNIT officials came across another issue with the staffer. They found that she used to take away the office keys with her and was not ready to share the login password of the computer. Officials then sought police help to maintain law and order when she came to office.After heated arguments, the cops booked her for obstructing police from performing their duty. SVNIT officials said that the woman behaved aggressively with senior officers and also took video of her argument with cops. “She was transferred from her earlier posting due to complaints. But she continued her behaviour here as well,” said a senior professor.
