Surat/Bharuch: In a joint operation, Bharuch local crime branch and the special operations group (SOG) caught a Mumbai-based couple and rescued a three-year-old boy they had allegedly kidnapped.The crime branch and SOG sleuths were keeping a watch on the national highway and started checking vehicles after getting specific information about a kidnapped child being taken out of Mumbai.They stopped a car bearing Maharashtra number plate MH 02 EH 4206 for checking near Mandva toll plaza. During questioning, the car occupants Jitensinh Rao and his wife Saroj could not provide satisfactory answers and ultimately confessed to have kidnapped the boy named Ayan Abdul Hamid Sheikh.Rajendrasinh Chudasama, superintendent of police, Bharuch, told TOI: “The couple lives in Ulwe sector-8 in New Mumbai. They had kidnapped the boy named Ayan and were going to their native Jhalore district in Rajasthan.”Preliminary interrogation revealed that Jitensinh had kidnapped Ayan as the boy’s father Abdul Hamid had falsely dragged his name in some gold trading business. “Jitensinh started getting phone calls from unknown persons from Karnataka demanding the gold, something that he had no clue about. Jitensinh was angry with Abdul Hamid for involving his name in the business,” said YG Gadhvi, police sub-inspector, crime branch.Jitensinh had purchased a Hyundai car through Olx from Abdul Hamid and that's how he had come in contact with him.“Jitensinh had told Abdul Hamid that Ayan would remain with him until he resolved the gold trading issue,” Gadhvi said.
