A 45-year-old brain-dead man has given new lease of life to six patients. His heart, liver, kidneys, and eyes were donated.
In the second incident of its kind in Surat, a 45-year-old brain-dead man has given new lease of life to six patients. His heart, liver, kidneys, and eyes were donated.
A green corridor was set up to transfer the organs to other places.
His heart has been transplanted in a 30-year-old man in Navi Mumbai. The heart was transferred to Mumbai in a green corridor and it took just 92 minutes to cover the distance of 300 km from Surat to Mumbai.
Dineshbhai who stayed in Maroli developed high blood pressure on June 11. He was rushed to hospital where doctors said that he had paralysis on the right side. CT scan showed that blood circulation had stopped on the left side. He was shifted to another private hospital in the city where he was declared brain dead.
Looking at his condition, the family decided to donate his organs. His one kidney was given to a 47-year-old woman at Zydus hospital in Ahmedabad.
The 274-km distance between Surat and Ahmedabad was covered in 180 minutes and the woman got a new life.
Another kidney was donated to a 17-year-old girl in Surat. While his liver was transplanted in a 43-year-old man in Ahmedabad.
This is the 43rd incident of heart transplant in Gujarat and the majority of the donors are from Surat.
This is the 33rd donation from diamond city. Of these, 22 hearts have been donated in Mumbai, 5 in Ahmedabad, 4 in Chennai, one each in Delhi and Indore.
A voluntary organization Donate Life has been spreading the message of donation in Surat and has received good response. Even in corona times, there have been cases of organ donation.
