City's fourth case of bone donation in last fortnight

Surat: The city has witnessed fourth case of bone donation along with that of kidneys and liver of a brain dead person in the last 15 days. However, if his vital organs could help someone, we would be very happy. Dr Prafull Shiroya of Lokdrashti Chaksu Bank of Surat received the eye donation. Family members of 30-year-old Jitendra Z Baviskar (Koli) donated thigh bones and vital organs after his death here on May 14.Baviskar was a painter by profession and lived in Dindoli area of the city. He is survived by wife, three children and parents.His wife Sarla and father Zambur said, "We are not going to get him ever back.

Family members of 30-year-old Jitendra Z Baviskar (Koli) donated thigh bones and vital organs after his death here on May 14.Baviskar was a painter by profession and lived in Dindoli area of the city. He was originally from Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. Baviskar had fallen from the third floor of Sarvajanik Education Society hostel while painting its walls. He suffered brain haemorrhage and was declared brain-dead on May 14. He is survived by wife, three children and parents.His wife Sarla and father Zambur said, "We are not going to get him ever back. However, if his vital organs could help someone, we would be very happy. Thus we decided to donate his organs and bones."Dr Rajiv Raj Chaudhary of Ashutosh Multi-Specialty Hospital accepted the thigh bones. The donation of kidneys and liver was accepted by a team of doctors from the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre, Ahmedabad.One kidney was transplanted in 50-year-old Majuben Dhya and the second in the body of 15-year-old Purvi Binani, resident of the city. Thirty-six-year-old Pankaj Chauhan of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, was recipient of Baviskar's liver. Dr Prafull Shiroya of Lokdrashti Chaksu Bank of Surat received the eye donation.
