Notices to 28 eateries in Surat

SURAT: Health department of Surat Municipal Corporation slapped notices on 28 eateries in Varachha and Chowk bazar areas of the city. An official said, " We won't tolerate any inedible stuff or stale stuff to be kept in shops and if found, they would be penalised. We don't need water-borne diseases in our city." They were given notices for keeping stale food , uncleanliness and other deficiencies.As the summer is approaching fast and day time temperature soars above 35 degree Celsius on days for the last 15 days, officials of health department have started inspection at places, where the sale of contaminated food could cause food poisoning.Officials found 17 eateries of Chowk Bazar and Kamal Gali not following the prescribed health and cleanliness standards, whereas 11 other shops were also keeping stale food and were selling food items on dirty surroundings in Varachha area.Officials destroyed more than 60 kg of food stuff from these shops.
