Kalyan man hurt during paragliding in Saputara

Surat: One person was injured during paragliding in hill station Saputara in Dang on Thursday morning.The accident occurred when glider of Ankit Suresh Gangani from Kalyan in Maharashtra, crash landed and hit a wall. "Association at present has five pilots and charges Rs 2,000 per glider for 7 to 10 minute flight. Gangani suffered sever injuries on the leg and was shifted to hospital in Valsad for treatment.According to details, Gangani's glider while landing deflected due to sudden change in wind direction. We provide adequate protection including helmets and boots up to ankle to the gliders. It provides two types of flying to the adventure loving tourists — up and bottom.Dang collector Mukesh Thakkar said, "It was a minor accident and in future more care would be taken to see such incidents don't happen."

The glider hit the wall of a fort and Gangani fractured his right foot.He was first rushed to primary health centre in Ahwa and then shifted to private hospital in Valsad town.Arihant Savant, president of Paragliders Association of Dang, said, "In last five years, this is the first accident and that too because of sudden change in wind direction. We provide adequate protection including helmets and boots up to ankle to the gliders."Association at present has five pilots and charges Rs 2,000 per glider for 7 to 10 minute flight.
