Plaint against cattle owner for threatening SMC officials

SURAT: Officials of Surat Municipal Corporation's (SMC) stray cattle catching party registered a complaint at Katargam police station against a cattle owner for obstructing them from doing their duty here on Friday.SMC officials on Thursday caught some stray cattle from Katargam and Chowk Bazaar , and put them at SMC cattle yard at Gotalawadi.Ajay Babu Desai alias Rabari of Causeway Road , owner of a few heads of cattle, reached there and manhandled SMC vehicle depot staffer Mahendra Atodaria and threatened him too. He warned that he would not hesitate to kill SMC staffers if his cattle was caught again. Rabari has been booked under IPC sections 332, 186, 323, 504 and 506(2) and Gujarat Police Act section 135. Police have launched a manhunt for the accused, who is on the run. He forcibly took away his cows from the yard.
