202 in fray for 16 seats of Surat district

The election observers will be hearing the election related complaints of all the political parties and supervise the election work. However, with cancellation of two, only five candidates remained in the race. Even in Mahuva assembly seat, only five candidates are in fray after the scrutiny was completed.For 16 assembly constituencies, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed nine election observers. Surat: After the final scrutiny by the returning officers (ROs) of all the 16 assembly constituencies of Surat city and district, 202 candidates have remained in the fray for assembly election to be held on December 9.A total of 314 nominations were filed till the last day of nomination on November 21. A maximum of 41 candidates had filed nominations from Limbayat assembly constituency and that only 17 were scrutinized to be valid candidatures.A maximum number of 18 candidates each have remained in the fray in Surat (west) and Choriyasi assembly seats, whereas 17 candidates each would be contesting on the Limbayat and Katargam seats.Minimum number of seven candidates had filed forms from Bardoli assembly constituency.
