Orientation workshop for national science congress on June 24

One group had devised solutions for improving the quality of water near railway lines to cultivate vegetables, and another prepared a protein-rich chocolate bar using edible algae.An orientation workshop will be held on Sunday, June 24 at Saraswati School, Naupada from 9.30 am-12.30 pm. — Avani Ghangurde THANE: Although city-schools have just reopened young science enthusiasts are already pumped up for the annual National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) to be held in December.A brainchild of the Government of India's National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) department of science and technology, NCSC aims at formulating a platform for young scientists to exhibit their creativity.Surendra Dighe from Jidnyasa Trust which is the coordinating agency for NCSC in Maharashtra said, “The 2018 NCSC focal theme is ‘Science, technology and innovation for a clean, green and healthy nation.’ Students will have to choose from six sub-themes - Ecosystem and ecosystem services, health, hygiene and sanitation, waste to wealth, society, culture and livelihoods and traditional knowledge systems.”Last year, three projects curated by lake city students were selected to represent Maharashtra.
