THANE: A 49-year-old man has been arrested for 37 house breakin cases in Thane, Navi Mumbai and Palghar . The accused used to trick people into meeting him and then he would gain access into their homes and steal all the valuables. The Kalwa police have recovered jewellery amounting to Rs 47 lakh. The cops have also arrested three jewellers from Vashi and Andheri for purchasing the stolen booty.The accused, Tukaram Adsul—a resident of Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai— targeted working class families.“His modu operandi was to identify gullible families. He would then befriend them and tell them that they have been allotted homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna. Adsul would ask them to get all their documents and meet him in the government office. Once he was sure that the family members have stepped out of their house, he would reach their place and break into their homes and make away with gold and cash,’’ said joint commissioner of police Madhukar Pandey.“He has owned up to all the house breakin cases in Thane, Mumbra, Diva, Navi Mumbai and Palghar. He has 37 cases of robbery in 19 police station jurisdiction registered against him,’’ added Pandey.The police claimed Adasul is a history sheeter and was externed from Navi Mumbai.
