Man hammers wife to death over her 'affair', hangs self

THANE: A man allegedly clobbered to death his 28-year-old wife at the couple's home in Padle village, Daighar on late on Tuesday. "Pujari declared that he was compelled to take this step as he suspected that his wife was having an affair . The man, Ajit Pujari, recorded his "confession" on his cellphone and forwarded the clip to his sister-in-law.Pujari battered Priyanka using a hammer. Priyanka working in a beauty parlour.Priyanka's father told cops that the couple got married in 2010 and Pujari was an alcoholic. "She had told her father that he would regularly beat her as he suspected that she was having an affair," said the senior police officer.

Pujari, who is said to be in his 30s, was found dead hanging. After seeing the clip, his in-laws rushed to the couple's home early on Wednesday. "Pujari declared that he was compelled to take this step as he suspected that his wife was having an affair . He also named his cousin, Ramesh Rao, for driving him to take this extreme step. We have arrested Rao," said deputy police commissioner DS Swamy told TOI.Police said Pujari was working in a private company in Mahape, but had recently put in his papers. Priyanka working in a beauty parlour.Priyanka's father told cops that the couple got married in 2010 and Pujari was an alcoholic. "She had told her father that he would regularly beat her as he suspected that she was having an affair," said the senior police officer. The police said that they are making enquires with family members. "We are taking down statements of their relatives to ascertain if there was any other reason for their bickering," said a police officer. A case has been registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code
