THANE: In a bid to reduce the congestion in the old Thane city, the traffic police has decided to turn this stretch into one-way from Gokhale Road and Teen Haath Naka from Friday onwards.“We had got many complaints where people claimed to be stuck for almost an hour on the Ghokhale Road as the traffic snarls from Teen hath Naka had reached till the MTNL office near Malhar talkies . The commuters can even take the Eastern Express Highway and take a left from a lane near Gurudwara to go towards Naupada or other station areas,” added Mangale. So afterstudying the roads and vehicular traffic it was decided that the stretch will be made into a one-way road and access will be given only to those vehicles who will be heading from Gokhale road towards the teen Hath Naka junction,” said Anil Mangale , inspector from the traffic department. The officials stated that the implementation of this will be initially for only 30 days and later if the results are positive then it will be implemented on a permanent basis. The authorities will be keeping a tab on the traffic flow on this route and the areas where the diversions are done to see the impact of the change.“The vehicles which used to earlier head towards Naupada from Teen Hath Naka will now have to take the Hari Niwas circle route to go towards their respective destinations.
