THANE: Since June, the civic health department has been receiving several mails from Thaneites to carry out a proper check of their homes and neighbourhood to ensure that there are no mosquito breeding spots.So far, the department has received 30 complaints. THANE: Since June, the civic health department has been receiving several mails from Thaneites to carry out a proper check of their homes and neighbourhood to ensure that there are no mosquito breeding spots.So far, the department has received 30 complaints. Officials from the health department said that most residents are using the online platform to alert the TMC about vulnerable areas or if there have been any incidents of suspected dengue.“People have been making use of the online platform and are interacting with the officials through e-mails instead of coming to the office. The online platform has become an easier communication tool between citizens and us. Since June, we have received around 30 complaints through e-mails. Many residents have asked us to carry out fumigation in their areas after residents have been suspected with dengue,” said Dr. Ram Kendre, medical health officer at the TMC.Meanwhile, residents have said that their complaints have been heard and they have received quick response from the department. The officials, along with carrying out frequent checks, even guided citizens about taking measures to make sure that there are no mosquito breeding spots in their homes or vicinity.“Almost two weeks ago, our society had e-mailed the TMC’s health department, informing them that there were dengue patients and carry out a check for breeding spots. The response came immediately the next day and they visited the society and the homes of the patients and other society members. They checked for breeding spots and the following day they carried out fumigation. We were surprised to see a government body providing such quick response,” said Naved Ansari, resident of Hiranandani Estate.Residents have claimed that even without intimating the authorities, the officials themselves visit various localities and carryy out fogging, at times even on bi-weekly basis.
