Thane: Two youth have been arrested for possessing firearms at Gaimukh along Ghodbunder Road on Monday. The duo have been identified as Kashinath Kamble (25) and Krishna Jayaswar (21), both residents of Rabodi.The Kasarwadavli police had received a tip-off that the duo were going to come near Gaimukh to sell firearms. The cops then laid a trap in the area and caught the duo red handed.“Our officials were fanned out in the area. As soon as the accused reached the spot we accosted them. While carrying out a body check we found a country-made pistol along with seven rounds and five live cartridges on them. We have seized the firarms and have arrested the accused. Also, we even confiscated a two-wheeler that was used by the duo to carry out the illegal activity,” said D Dhole, senior inspector at Kasarvadavli police station.The accused have been booked under various sections of the arms act and the Bombay police act. The duo produced before a magistrates court and were sent to judicial custody.The police said that the accused were going to sell the firearms for Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The cops are now checking with other police stations if they have previous crime record.Further investigations are on in the case.
