Thane: Merely four days after conducting a day-long protest outside Mumbai University’s Thane Sub centre, the students of the BMS-MBA integrated course finally got their all their marksheets by Friday evening, thanks to the centre’s newly appointed coordinator Chandrashekhar Marathe.Marathe, who is also the principal of SP Dnyansadhana College also successfully completed the eligibility process of the CBSE entrants in the course and resolved the issue of the erroneous date stamps on the distributed mark sheets within this short span. Frustrated about the excessive delay in the issuance of the mark sheets of all their six semesters, close to 400 students of Mumbai University’s Thane Sub Centre and their parents staged a day-long protest outside the Balkum campus on Monday. While Marathe took charge of the coordinator of the centre on Monday evening, he immediately organised discussions with the faculty and students and resolved this issue of the date stamps by collecting the mark sheets back on Tuesday and replacing them with correctly dated ones.As many of the eligibility of students who had migrated into the course from other cities or from the CBSE board were not verified over the years, those students had not been given any marksheets. Marathe cleared all the required procedures and distributed these students’ 1st to 5th semester marksheets by Wednesday. The semester 6 marksheets were issued to all these students by Friday. “There were a lot of technical delays in the generation of these marksheets. I was given charge of the sib centre and started working on each issue at the earliest so the students don’t waste their year. By Friday all the 6 semesters mark sheets were given. Those who are in the four year program will get the seventh and eight semester mark sheets soon,” C. Marathe said. While the issue has been resolved for most students, at least 18 students will have to repeat a year as their fifth semester certificates showed that they failed in various subjects. “If we were given our marks in time last year, we would have been able to clear our KTs last year itself. Now we have to waste a whole year,” said one such student.
