THANE: The proceedings of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) house was disrupted for few minutes on Friday afternoon after elected representatives raised questions over the apparent stonewalling by the administration about the cluster redevelopment plan.Corporators from all parties including the Mayor expressed their displeasure over the manner in which the project was being handled forcing the administration to assure that the details would soon be made available within a weeks’ time. The issue was raised by BJP corporator Krishna Patil who questioned the mayor why the administration is reluctant to give copies of the impact assessment report to him despite asking for it in May. After the administration claimed they didn’t have the information, an infuriated Patil staged a protest alleging ‘highhandedness’ of the administration and sat before the well in the House.“A majority part of my ward comprises of slums and I have been flooded with queries about the cluster. I have no information about the execution and have been following up with the town planning department to at least give me a copy of the impact assessment report. It has been nearly two months they haven’t bothered to respond,” he complained.Patil was soon joined by fellow corporators who expressed their opinions on how the administration was not ready to share details of the cluster redevelopment plans. “We have no idea how the project is going to be executed and what is the latest update of the project. The administration is mum over the issue,” said a senior NCP corporator. Mayor Meenakshi Shinde also joined in saying the administration needed to be more proactive over sharing information with corporators.Following the uproar, the administration was eventually forced to assure corrective action and promised to share copies of the impact assessment report with the corporators.“The report was submitted to the state government that passed it to the Bombay High Court . We will share copies of the impact assessment report with the corporators within one week,” said a senior official from the TMC town planning department.
