355 seats up for grabs for first-come-first FYJC admission in 7 coveted city colleges

In the city colleges there are fewer seats vacant at this stage in the commerce stream as students have quickly taken admission. In K G Joshi-Bedekar College of arts and commerce, around 60 seats are up for grabs in the arts field, but no seats are vacant in their unaided commerce field. Later on, the other students who have scored less will be given a chance to sign in. THANE: As many as 355 seats are up for grabs across seven coveted city-based colleges for the first-cum-first serve ( FCFS ) round of first year junior college (FJYC) admissions that opened up for online form submissions on Monday.The data uploaded on the official website for the centralized admission process shows that most seats in the arts and science stream across the top Thane junior colleges are yet to be filled. It is seen that many are not opting for the integrated courses and are still waiting for a seat, increasing the demand for the aided courses in the city,” said an official from the Centralized Admission Process in Thane.While 74 seats in the science stream at Shubham Raje College of Science and Commerce are open for the FCFS round 1, seven are available in the commerce field of the same college.

Experts claimed that the commerce seats on the other hand were all taken up in the earlier merit rounds itself thanks to the increasing demand for these courses.Although hardly two to 21 seats are left in the commerce field in several of the city colleges, the science and arts stream in colleges like Shubham Raje, K G Joshi-Bedekar, B N Bandodkar and M H High School still have around 50 seats on an average to offer in both the streams.“Now the students, who have scored 80 per cent and above in their Class X examinations will be given the chance to log in and claim seats in whichever colleges there is a vacancy. Later on, the other students who have scored less will be given a chance to sign in.
