Two chain snatchers, bike thief held in separate cases

Thane: Cops from zone-5 arrested two members of chain snatching syndicate of the Irani gang. Later during the probe, the police found 11 other stolen bikes, the DCP informed TOI. Some of the alert citizens informed the police, while Khan started running on a scooter, Ambure informed.Upon search, the police found screwdriver, duplicate keys, number plate stickers etc. On the other hand, the Kasarwadavli police arrested a bike thief who has around 39 cases against him.The police said that the arrested accused – Abbas Jafri 27 and Sadiq Ali 25 are both residents of Piranipada in Bhiwandi and were part of the gang that robbed woman walking on the road. The gang has been operating in several areas of Thane city, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Dombivali and Ambernath-Badlapur belt, said Avinash Ambure the deputy commissioner of police zone-5.The two members were trapped by a team led by Datta Dhole, the senior inspector and police inspector Nasir Kulkarni and upon interrogation, the duo confessed to 12 cases across Thane police commissionerate.The duo have been interrogated and they have helped recover six gold chains and eight Mangalsutra weighing 260 grams worth Rs 7.80 lakh.“We are trying to find their involvement in other cases and also trying to get the information of their accomplices,” informed Kulkarni.These particular accused were also involved in number of chain snatchings in Hyderabad as well.On the other hand, the Kasarwadavali police nabbed a bike-thief who has nearly 39 cases of the same crime against him committed across Mumbai.The police said that accused Nasir Khan was in action near Hiranandani Estate and was suspiciously moving near the vehicles.
