City feels October heat, no. of patients on the rise

Thane: The scorching heat has led to rise in number of people suffering from respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, breathlessness etc. Since the October heat has started we have come across many patients with bronchitis, cough and lower and upper respiratory tract infections. People even make sure to cover themselves while stepping out,” said Dr Atul Kulkarni, physician. claimed the doctors from the city.Many patients have been complaining of itching in throat, coughing continuously, rapid breathing since the past two weeks as the temperature has gone up.“When the temperature goes up viruses thrive in this hot climate which leads to many respiratory infections. Many patients have even complaint about breathlessness,” said Dr Suparna Nirgudkar, consultant physician.“We are coming across patients who are complaining of dehydration but the number is less as compared to viral or throat infections as people are taking adequate measures like consumption of fluids, juicy fruits, many even carry ORS water etc.
