THANE: The Christian community observed All Saints’day and All Souls’day on Thursday and Friday, repectively.On Thursday, the community attended masses and payed repect to all the saints. They also seeked their blessings. Many parishes also had extra services to cater to the crowd. George Pinto (49), a resident of the Manpada, said, “Earlier, each saint used to be remembered and worshipped on one specific day in the year. However, after the steep rise in the number of saints over the years, this one day was turned into All Saints’ Day. So on this day, all the saints are revered together.”On Friday, people prayed for the dead members of their family. On this day too, they attended mass and offered prayers for their ancestors. The graves were also decorated with flowers and lit up with candles.“We offered special masses for all the deceased members of the family and prayed for their smooth entry into heaven,” said Lisha Mendonca, a Vasant Vihar resident.
