Trial run of new voting machines with voter paper

THANE: The final tests of the new set of voting machines equipped with the Voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) is being conducted in Thane before it is sealed for use in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in the district.A set of 12,659 ballot units along with 7,361 control units and 7,361 VVPATS is subjected to a rigorous set of trials at a Kopri facility owned by the revenue department in the presence of representatives of political parties. The revision programme is also updated, the status of around 8,220 voters who have migrated while that of 52 residents who are settled abroad has also been included in the revision.
