RTO to create five brake-test tracks on 35 acres in Kalyan

At other RTOs, we have either one or two tracks for conducting tests as per the high court directive. KALYAN: The RTO is coming up with five brake-test tracks of 250 metres each on 35 acres of land in Nandivali here.Three of the tracks for commercial vehicles are already ready and work is under way for two others, which will be ready by December 15.Transport commissioner Shekhar Channe said: "So far we have prepared 42 such brake-test tracks across the state but the Nandivali track will be huge. "Mumbai will also get its second brake test track in Wadala soon.A proposal in this connection was brought before the BEST committee on Monday when the administration said that a plot of land in Anik depot at Wadala could be given to the RTO for conducting the 250-metre brake tests.It is proposed to be given from 2 pm to 6 pm and at a proposed rate of Rs 50 for every test conducted on a light motor vehicle and Rs 100 for other categories of vehicles.
