THANE: A 15-year-old Nalasopara boy died reportedly after suffering an epileptic seizure during a day-long school excursion to a privately-run water park on Ghodbunder Road on Friday. TOI had reported about the death in its late edition on Saturday.The police said Deepak Gupta, a Class X student, was waiting for his turn to get into a ride when he collapsed due to a seizure. The boy’s parents have told the parents that the child had a “weak heart since birth and that could have led to an acute medical situation”, said senior inspector D Dhole from Kasarvadavli police station. The school had taken nearly 250 students for the picnic.Other students have told the police lifeguards and teachers rushed to help Deepak and tried to bring him back to consciousness. Deepak was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors proclaimed him dead before arrival, said the police. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination but doctors have not yet concluded what caused the collapse or death. The viscera has been sent for chemical analysis to Kalina forensic laboratory.“The parents haven’t filed a complaint,” he said. An accidental death case has been registered.
