THANE: Nearly nine years after a doctor suffered grievous injuries in a road accident involving a trailer in Navi Mumbai, the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) ordered a compensation of Rs 12.3 lakh. Dr Gulrez Mansuri told the tribunal that he was attached to a hospital as regional medical officer in Mumbai. The trailer's insurer opposed the claim, saying he was riding the bike rashly. He told the tribunal that on November 12, 2009, around 2.30 am, he was returning home after visiting Lonavla , when near Uran phata , a trailer rammed into his bike on Panvel-Sion road.The doctor received severe injuries and was advised complete bed rest for six months and spent over Rs 4 lakh on medicines, hospitalisation after which he lodged a claim.
