In a bid to improve his fortunes, Sharma paid Rs 6,000 for the skull and procured it from Hatkar to practice black magic, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the cops raided the premises of the accused on Thursday and found the skull and other items used for the practice of black magic.
Hatkar had procured the skull from Gawari who works in a cemetery in Ulhasnagar.
THANE: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly practising witchcraft and black magic as well as keeping a human skull inside a shanty at a Kalwa slum.Those arrested have been identified as Raju Sharma, Kailas Hatkar, reportedly a tantrik (black magician) and Pandurang Gawari, from Ulhasnagar.The police said that Sharma procured a human skull from Hatkar and kept it at his place for the last three months in order to practise witchcraft and black magic which is prohibited under law.
However, very few frequented his shop making it another loss-making venture," said a police official.
