KALYAN: A man has been booked for rash driving after he allegedly mowed down a stray dog by his car.The canine died during treatment at Bombay SPCA in Parel on Friday.The incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed in the area.The accident occurred a week ago on March 21 in Kashish Park Apartment in Khadakpada area.According to a complaint filed by Chandan Shadadpuri, an animal rights activist, a 15-year-old stray dog was hit by the speeding car (MH -47-N 3345) being driven by one Ramesh Jadhav.The car was in full speed when it hit the dog. The driver did not stopped after the accident. Some locals rushed the injured canine to the hospital for treatment."When I learnt about the incident through a resident, I enquired and checked CCTV footage of the building in which I identified the car that hit the dog. On Friday, I filed a complaint with the police demanding action against the culprit," Shadadpuri said.An FIR has been registered at Khadakpada police station against Jadhav, who has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 279 (rash driving) and 479 (mischief by killing or maiming animal)."The matter is being probed. There has been no arrest yet," a police official said.
