Trader booked for cheating Panvel woman of Rs 9 lakh

NAVI MUMBAI: A woman entrepreneur residing in Panvel has lodged a complaint at Kalamboli police station against a trader for cheating her by accepting consignment of iron wires worth Rs 8.95 lakh and giving her a cheque that bounced. Complainant Anila Malpani (49) and her husband Madhusudan Maplani are directors of a company that manufactures binding iron wires at their factory in Taloja MIDC. After repeated failed attempts to contact Soni, the complainant lodged a complaint at Taloja police station that has been transferred to Kalamboli police station on Friday. The trader has been identified as Gaurav Soni, who has an office at Andheri (W).On December 15, 2017, Soni contacted Malpani and inquired about the rate of iron wire. They also own a godown-cum office in Kalamboli steel market.

After fixing the price on December 18, Soni sent a purchase order of iron wires worth Rs 8.97,511 to Malpani’s Kalamboli office address and her husband collected the cheque from Soni’s Andheri office.However, Malpani did not have the stock and arranged the order from Raipur and got it transported. As Soni’s Vasai godown was on the way, Malpani delivered the consignment there. The cheque given by Soni and subsequently, more cheques that followed got dishonoured. After repeated failed attempts to contact Soni, the complainant lodged a complaint at Taloja police station that has been transferred to Kalamboli police station on Friday.
