Thane: Six held for carrying out rally without permission in Kalyan

KALYAN: Bazarpeth police in Kalyan in Maharashtras Thane district has arrested six people for carrying out a rally without permission near the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj located near Durgadi Fort in Kalyan and disrupting the traffic.The action was taken on Sunday evening after an FIR was registered on complaint of some Hindu organizations.The police — who filed complaint on basis of viral video on Sunday and arrested six persons — said the complaint alleged that on Friday on occasion of Eid-E- Milad around eight to nine unidentified persons on their motorcycle gathered with flags in their hands near statue of Shivaji Maharaj where they raised slogans without permission and created traffic jams. Sunil Pawar, senior police inspector of Bazarpeth police station, said, "In this connection we have registered an offense for carrying out a rally without permission and creating traffic jam and so far have arrested six persons."
