Six UP natives held with fake documents

The Thiruvananthapuram city police have arrested six natives of Uttar Pradesh who attended the ongoing Army recruitment rally after allegedly claiming to be natives of Kollam and presenting fake documents. Kollam-based agentWhile the accused claimed to have been provided the fake documents by a Kollam-based agent, the police was yet to ascertain the claim. The forgery came to light after two candidates, who had cleared fitness test, were interviewed by the Army recruitment officials on Saturday. They had applied online to participate in the rally using fake Aadhaar cards. The officials had found the documents, including Aadhaar card and nativity certificate, all claiming their permanent address to be in Kollam, to be forged.

Those arrested by the Poojappura police were identified as Vipin Kumar, 18, Ankit Bhati, 22, Vishnu Kumar Solanki, 19, Chetan Prakash Solanki, 20, Manish Kumar, 20, and Shylendra Singh, 20, all hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. Handed over to police They were handed over to the police by military intelligence officials who had received information regarding the possibility of fraudulent entries at the rally by submitting forged documents. The forgery came to light after two candidates, who had cleared fitness test, were interviewed by the Army recruitment officials on Saturday. The officials had found the documents, including Aadhaar card and nativity certificate, all claiming their permanent address to be in Kollam, to be forged. They had applied online to participate in the rally using fake Aadhaar cards. Their school documents, however, validated their actual addresses. Those apprehended provided information regarding the others who were caught from near a lodge close to the Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station. All those caught were soon handed over to the City police late Saturday. A police team led by Poojappura station house officer K. Premkumar collected statements from officials at the venue of the recruitment rally on the premises of the Pangode Military Station on Sunday. Kollam-based agent While the accused claimed to have been provided the fake documents by a Kollam-based agent, the police was yet to ascertain the claim. The accused were booked under various provisions including Sections 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 465 (forgery), 468, 420 (cheating) and 471 (use of forged document as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused will be produced before the court on Monday.
