THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress will target ' Modi-mukt Bharat ' in 2019, said senior party leader A K Antony here on Monday. He said the aim of the Congress is to oust Modi from power by joining hands with all secular forces in the country. He was speaking at a function to mark the 27th death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. "If Rajiv Gandhi had sacrificed the Congress governments in Assam, Punjab and Mizoram to bring in peace in the region, Narendra Modi is destroying communal harmony to form BJP governments in the states,'' said the Congress working committee member.Though the Congress and Janata Dal(Secular) combine had more MLAs and vote share than BJP in Karnataka, Governor Vajubhai Vala had invited the BJP to form the government in the state on the instructions of Modi, said Antony."To help the minority party form a government, seven central ministers were camping in Bengaluru. They were sent to the city to oversee the efforts of 'horse-trading' and make a mockery of democracy. The people of the country have witnessed what the BJP did in Karnataka and this will reflect in the coming elections," he alleged.Antony also said Modi can never be compared to former prime ministers like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. The former defense minister added the tragic death of Rajiv Gandhi has created a big void in the country. "If he was alive, India would have been a powerful country in the world both economically and politically. Rajiv Gandhi was a man of missions and under him, the country witnessed rapid progress in fields like science and information technology," said Antony.KPCC president M M Hassan, former KPCC presidents V M Sudheeran and K Muraleedharan and other Congress leaders attended the function.
