Tiff with LSGD: Corp secretary transferred

T’puram: The local self government department has transferred the secretary of Thiruvananthapuram municipal corporation L S Deepa to Thrissur corporation. Deepa, who assumed charge as the secretary in April 2017, had insisted on strict compliance with building norms and environmental rules incurring displeasure of the violators.Deepa had recently approached mayor V K Prasanth citing persistent mental harassment from a senior LSG official. The order dated June 14 also contains transfer orders for secretaries and additional secretaries of six civic bodies.Speculations have been rife about the imminent transfer of Deepa as she had been at conflict with the top brass of the LSG department especially with regard to issuance of occupancy certificate for realty projects in the city despite violations. She has also filed a case with Kerala administrative tribunal as her mandatory probation was being delayed owing to differences with this official.It is learnt that V K Prasanth met chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday and placed a request to retain Deepa.TOI had carried series of reports as to how the urban affairs directorate and LSG department coerced corporation to issue occupancy certificate even in cases which showed blatant violation of norms.
