KEAM 2018 results: Boys sweep top ranks

Of the top 100 ranks in the State medical rank list, boys secured 51 ranks while girls secured 49. The architecture rank list, based on the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) scores, and pharmacy rank list have also been released as part of the KEAM results. The top three ranks in the State medical rank list based on NEET UG ranks went to girls, even though boys dominated the top 10 rank list. R. more-in Boys seem to have swept the engineering ranks, securing 90 out of the top 100 ranks in the Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical (KEAM) Entrance examinations 2018, while maintaining a slight edge in the State rank list for medical courses too (based on NEET UG ranks), claiming 59 out of the top 100 ranks. The KEAM 2018 results were announced in Thiruvananthapurm on Wednesday by the Health Minister, K.K. Shylaja. The first rank in the engineering entrance test went to Amal Mathew of Kottayam, second rank to M. Sabari Krishna of Kollam and third rank to Denin Jose of Kottayam. Of the 90,233 who appeared for the engineering entrance examination, 58,268 candidates qualified, out of whom, 46,686 have been included in the rank list. Of the first 5,000 engineering ranks, 2,394 students followed the State Higher Secondary syllabus, while 2,377 were from the CBSE stream for the qualifying Plus Two examination Based on the NEET UG rank list, a total of 48,937 candidates, including 12,539 boys and 36,398 girls figure in the State rank list for admission to medical courses in Kerala. Of the top 100 ranks in the State medical rank list, boys secured 51 ranks while girls secured 49. Of the top 100 ranks, 57 were appearing for the examination for the second time, while for 18 candidates, KEAM 2018 was their third attempt at securing medical admission. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will conduct allotment to 2,463 MBBS seats, with 943 seats in eight government medical colleges and 1,700 seats in 16 self-financing medical colleges in the State. For engineering, of the 52,000 plus seats available in all in government/aided/government-controlled self-financing and private self-financing engineering colleges, the CEE will conduct allotment in 32,000 seats. The first phase of allotment for engineering courses will be held before June 30. The first phase of allotment for MBBS/BDS seats will be held before July 5 and the second phase before July 26.
