Vehicle owners served notices

The City Police have begun cracking down on vehicles that are either perpetually parked on road sides or footpaths for long or abandoned by their owners. Over 100 motorists were issued notices during the last few days, directing them to remove their vehicles or risk getting them impounded and towed away to the vehicle yard in Poonthura. “Many car owners, particularly those who used to park their vehicles on pavements outside their houses, have begun to remove their vehicles after having received notice. Besides, other areas including various stretches along the NH-66 bypass, Sasthamangalam and Vellayambalam will also be cleared of such vehicles during the drive.

The officer said parking on footpaths or road sides for long durations have inconvenienced pedestrians and other motorists in and around Sreevaraham and other parts of the Fort region, having narrow roads. Besides, other areas including various stretches along the NH-66 bypass, Sasthamangalam and Vellayambalam will also be cleared of such vehicles during the drive.
