Rani George, Secretary, Tourism, said the site would lead to tourists inflow to enjoy the blossoming of Neelakurinji. Kerala Tourism has launched a microsite on blossoming of Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana), that happens once in 12 years at the famed hill station of Munnar in the Western Ghats. Neelakurinji has started blossoming and will be on till October. A 21-page e-brochure is also part of the site that enables foreigners to get riveting information about Neelakurinji.

A blooming field of Neelakurinji that happens once in 12 years. more-in Kerala Tourism has launched a microsite on blossoming of Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana), that happens once in 12 years at the famed hill station of Munnar in the Western Ghats. The microsite “The legendary neelakurinji blooms,” which can be accessed with the URL www.keralatourism.org/neelakurinji, is rich in content and has detailed information regarding the tourist attractions on the way to the Eravikulam National Park near Munnar. The microportal offers insights into the ‘Neelakurinji Phenomenon’ through photographs of the blooming in 1982, 1994 and 2006 in the gallery section, video clips of nearby tourist attractions of Rajamala, Peerumade, Marayoor, Mattupetty and Devikulam. Travel writers and photographers share their experiences of having witnessed the flowering in the previous years and articles on preserving the endangered Kurinji as well are included. A 21-page e-brochure is also part of the site that enables foreigners to get riveting information about Neelakurinji. The e-brochure can be downloaded and sent via WhatsApp. Neelakurinji mainly blossoms abundantly at Rajamala and Eravikulam National Park. Launching the micro portal on Wednesday, Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran said that the site will help tourists explore more interesting facts about Neelakurinji and realise the real beauty of the place. Rani George, Secretary, Tourism, said the site would lead to tourists inflow to enjoy the blossoming of Neelakurinji. “Wildlife photographers, scientists, nature lovers and travel writers have contributed to the site. Their articles and amazing experiences during their previous visits enrich the microsite,” said P. Bala Kiran , Director, Kerala Tourism.
