The project is being implemented by the city Corporation and the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority. Corporation standing committee chairpersons and literacy mission Director P.S. ‘Aksharadeepam’ (lamps of literacy) would be lit in all wards at 6.30 p.m. on Friday. Aksharasree aims at identifying illiterates and providing them education, besides making opportunities for the further education of those who couldn’t pursue it. Mayor V.K. Prasanth presided. Corporation standing committee chairpersons and literacy mission Director P.S. Sreekala were present. ‘Aksharadeepam’ (lamps of literacy) would be lit in all wards at 6.30 p.m. on Friday.
