“The decision to recommend crime branch investigation against the former VC would not stand the scrutiny of law. The former VC had sought action against some of the syndicate members, during their term in regular syndicate. Since the person accused for violating secrecy is no more associated with the varsity, the syndicate can seek police investigation. Its only objective is to malign him,” Johnson Abraham said. However, many in the academic circles believe that allegations against the former VC were of serious nature. The university is not competent to conduct inquiry into such matters,” said R Jayaprakash, former member, Kerala state higher education council.
