Thrashed in Kerala, Bengal migrant dies

This was followed by a heated altercation between Roy and the people, which ended in Roy being thrashed," Anchal circle inspector T Sathikumar said.Roy was taken to a hospital and discharged the next day. "During questioning, Roy's friend fled, which increased the mob's suspicion. He died on the way there, cops said. The postmortem report on Monday confirmed the assault as the cause of death.On June 24, Manik Roy and his friend were heading back after buying a hen, when a group of residents from Anchal village - led by one Sasidhara Kurup and Asif - intercepted them.Since poultry theft is rampant in the area, the group questioned them.

He was advised a detailed check-up, which he refused, and continued to go to work, cops said.Police, meanwhile, registered a case for simple hurt under Sections 341, 294 (B), 323 and 34 of IPC, and bail was granted to the accused.On Saturday, Roy complained of a headache and was referred to Mission Hospital. He died on the way there, cops said.
